“Bow Hunting Done Right”
Local hunter and archery store owner, Ronnie Kimbrough knows hunting fun and adventure! From Wyoming to home, this guy knows bow hunting and that “archery is a mental game, a one-on-one sport.” He stresses the importance of practice and that all hunters should use a fall restraint harness when tree stand hunting. Kimbrough notes that hand-eye coordination and muscle memory are extremely important as an archer.
Wyoming
Having to prepare almost a year in advance for his first Wyoming trip, Kimbrough shot his bow and was also in the gym with cardio and weightlifting; he even began riding horses mid-year to accommodate the hunt. In preparation also, his team had to put in for licenses and preference points along with compiling the right gear for the trip.
Once outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming on the six day excursion, Kimbrough and his team got up before dawn and rode horseback for a couple of hours in the pitch black only then to walk another hour to the hunting spot. They hunted all day, would walk an hour back, then ride the couple of hours back to the camp again in the dark. Once at camp, they would eat, sleep, and then get up and do it all over again! Kimbrough feels fortunate to have seen elk, moose, and grizzly bear; where they hunted is part of the migration route for elk. He is returning next year!
Michigan
Kimbrough enjoyed a great hunt a few years back in Michigan where he got a nice five year old, five point buck, a real big bodied bear with an unusual rack. The guys he was hunting with were in a contest on the Outdoor Channel and had been after the same buck for two years. Kimbrough had been in the stand all day when it was time to leave so he had already begun to lower his bow when member of his team at the bottom of a tree yelled up about the buck. Kimbrough pulled his bow back up and when the deer walked up closer and was about 10 yards to him, he got him. For Kimbrough, it was an “exciting hunt, good deer, and overall great experience.”
Georgia
Every spring, Kimbrough hunts hog in Perry, Georgia at Henderson Village Resort. He calls this a “comfortable hunt,” as each guest has their own room and the facilities are nice. In the morning the team is taken out to the 9,000 acres to enjoy their day. Kimbrough notes that baiting wild hog is legal in Georgia.
Local Spot
Kelso, Tennessee is where Kimbrough gets several good deer a year and has hunted for the past 15 years. In Tenn., a hunter can kill three does a day and three bucks total for the season with archery equipment. Kimbrough notes the quality of deer has gotten much better. One of his most recent proudest kills was a young, eight point buck he shot last year in Tennessee.

Easton Carbon Injexion—Kimbrough describes them as “smaller diameter arrows that are good for long range shooting. They have good penetration because of smaller diameter.”
